3 Water-Conservation Tips For Your Business

According to the EPA, the average American uses 82 gallons of water daily. That’s 29,930 gallons of water a year per person. Consolidated Containment is celebrating National Water Day this year, so we are sharing three tips you can use to conserve water at your facility or business.

1. Check your water bill and monitor spikes in cost.

This is an excellent thing to do to ensure there are no leaks in your pipe systems you don’t know about. By surveying your monthly water bill, you can determine when leaks or plumbing issues arise by monitoring cost fluctuations (GBB).

2. Have a plumber come out twice a year for a health check.

Making sure your pipes are ready for hurricane season and winter storms is one preventative measure you can take to make sure things are functioning correctly. This also gives you an idea of how your water pipes are doing twice yearly so that if something goes wrong, you have a point of reference (GBB).

3. Install reduced-pressure faucets.

In places you don’t need high-pressure water faucets, like bathrooms and break rooms, you can reduce the water pressure to 50 psi by replacing faucets, which helps reduce water usage over time (GBB).

Water conservation is just one way we can help the environment. Educating ourselves about conserving water and sharing what we learn goes a long way. For more information, you can visit the EPA website, Green Business Bureau website. If you have a concern about your water system, you can check the TCEQ website for the system and its requirements. Happy National Water Day!
